41:48 Joseph ²  collected all the excess food ³  in the land of Egypt during the seven years and stored it in the cities. ⁴  In every city he put the food gathered from the fields around it.

[14:5]  ¹ tn The Hebrew verb נָכָה (nakhah) means “to attack, to strike, to smite.” In this context it appears that the strike was successful, and so a translation of “defeated” is preferable.

[41:48]  ² tn Heb “he”; the referent (Joseph) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
