[22:27]  1 tn Heb “but it is a witness between us and you.”

[22:27]  2 tn Heb “to do the service of the Lord before him.”

[22:27]  3 tn Or “peace offerings.”

[22:27]  4 tn Heb “You have no portion in the Lord.”

[22:2]  5 tn Heb “You have kept all which Moses, the Lord’s servant, commanded you, and you have listened to my voice, to all which I commanded you.”

[20:1]  6 tn Heb “and he came and said before Jonathan.”

[20:1]  7 tn Heb “What is my guilt?”

[20:1]  8 tn Heb “and he came and said before Jonathan.”

[20:1]  9 tn Heb “What is my guilt?”

[12:16]  10 tn The words “the door” are not in the Greek text, but are implied (see Acts 12:13).

[12:16]  11 sn That they were greatly astonished is a common response in Luke-Acts to God’s work (Luke 8:56; Acts 2:7, 12; 8:13; 9:21; 10:45).

[4:2]  12 tn Heb “the heads of the fathers.” So also in v. 3.

[4:2]  13 tn Heb “Let us build with you.”

[4:2]  14 tc The translation reads with the Qere, a Qumran MS, the LXX, the Syriac Peshitta, and the Arabic version וְלוֹ (vÿlo, “and him”) rather than the Kethib of the MT, וְלֹא (vÿlo’, “and not”).

[4:2]  15 tn Heb “days.”

[4:2]  16 sn Esarhaddon was king of Assyria ca. 681-669 b.c.

[4:2]  17 sn The Assyrian policy had been to resettle Samaria with peoples from other areas (cf. 2 Kgs 17:24-34). These immigrants acknowledged Yahweh as well as other deities in some cases. The Jews who returned from the Exile regarded them with suspicion and were not hospitable to their offer of help in rebuilding the temple.

[4:3]  18 tn Heb “not to you and to us.”

[2:20]  19 tn Heb “will arise and build.” The idiom “arise and…” means to begin the action described by the second verb.

[2:20]  20 tn Heb “portion or right or remembrance.” The expression is probably a hendiatris: The first two nouns retain their full nominal function, while the third noun functions adjectivally (“right or remembrance” = “ancient right”).

[8:21]  21 tn The translation “share or part” is given by L&N 63.13.

[8:21]  22 tn Since the semantic range for λόγος (logos) is so broad, a number of different translations could be given for the prepositional phrase here. Something along the lines of “in this thing” would work well, but is too colloquial for the present translation.
