15:31 “‘Thus you ¹  are to set the Israelites apart from their impurity so that they ²  do not die in their impurity by defiling my tabernacle which is in their midst.

15:1 The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron:

8:39 then listen from your heavenly dwelling place, forgive their sin, ³  and act favorably toward each one based on your evaluation of his motives. ⁴  (Indeed you are the only one who can correctly evaluate the motives of all people.) ⁵ 

[15:31]  ¹ tn Heb “And you shall.” The Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) can be considered to have resultative force here (cf. KJV, ASV, NASB, NCV, NRSV).

[15:31]  ² tn Heb “and they.” Here the Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) indicates a negative purpose (“lest,” so NAB, NASB).

[8:39]  ³ tn The words “their sin” are added for clarification.

[8:39]  ⁴ tn Heb “and act and give to each one according to all his ways because you know his heart.” In the Hebrew text vv. 37-39a actually contain one lengthy conditional sentence, which the translation has divided up for stylistic reasons.

[8:39]  ⁵ tn Heb “Indeed you know, you alone, the heart of all the sons of mankind.”
