[15:18]  1 tn Heb “And a woman who a man lies with her a lying of seed.”

[18:23]  2 tn See the note on v. 20 above.

[18:23]  3 tn Heb “to copulate with it” (cf. Lev 20:16).

[18:23]  4 tn The Hebrew term תֶּבֶל (tevel, “perversion”) derives from the verb “to mix; to confuse” and therefore refers to illegitimate mixtures of species or violation of the natural order of things.

[20:10]  5 tn Heb “And a man who.” The syntax here and at the beginning of the following verses elliptically mirrors that of v. 9, which justifies the rendering as a conditional clause.

[20:10]  6 tc The reading of the LXX minuscule mss has been followed here (see the BHS footnote a-a). The MT has a dittography, repeating “a man who commits adultery with the wife of” (see the explanation in J. E. Hartley, Leviticus [WBC], 328). The duplication found in the MT is reflected in some English versions, e.g., KJV, ASV, NASB, NIV.

[20:13]  7 tn Heb “[as the] lyings of a woman.” The specific reference here is to homosexual intercourse between males.

[25:6]  8 tn The word “produce” is not in the Hebrew text but is implied; cf. NASB “the sabbath products.”

[25:6]  9 tn A “resident who stays” would be a foreign person who was probably residing as another kind of laborer in the household of a landowner (B. A. Levine, Leviticus [JPSTC], 170-71). See v. 35 below.

[26:26]  10 tn Heb “When I break to you staff of bread” (KJV, ASV, and NASB all similar).

[26:26]  11 tn Heb “they will return your bread in weight.”
