15:16 “‘When a man has a seminal emission, ¹  he must bathe his whole body in water ²  and be unclean until evening,

Leviticus 22:4

22:4 No man ³  from the descendants of Aaron who is diseased or has a discharge ⁴  may eat the holy offerings until he becomes clean. The one ⁵  who touches anything made unclean by contact with a dead person, ⁶  or a man who has a seminal emission, ⁷ 

[15:16]  ¹ tn Heb “And a man when a lying of seed goes out from him”; KJV, ASV “any man’s seed of copulation”; NIV, NRSV, TEV, NLT “an emission of semen.”

[15:16]  ² tn Heb “and he shall bathe all his flesh in water.”

[22:4]  ³ tn Heb “Man man.” The reduplication is a way of saying “any man” (cf. Lev 15:2; 17:3, etc.), but with a negative command it means “No man” (see B. A. Levine, Leviticus [JPSTC], 147).

[22:4]  ⁴ sn The diseases and discharges mentioned here are those described in Lev 13-15.
