8:1 The Ephraimites said to him, “Why have you done such a thing to us? You did not summon us ¹  when you went to fight the Midianites!” They argued vehemently with him.

[9:6]  ² tc The translation assumes that the form in the Hebrew text (מֻצָּב, mutsav) is a corruption of an original מַצֵּבָה (matsevah, “pillar”). The reference is probably to a pagan object of worship (cf. LXX).

[10:18]  ³ tn Heb “the people, the officers.”

[10:18]  ⁴ tn Heb “Who is the man who will begin fighting.”
