3:6 They took the Canaanites’ daughters as wives and gave their daughters to the Canaanites; ¹  they worshiped ²  their gods as well.

3:20 When Ehud approached him, he was sitting in his well-ventilated ³  upper room all by himself. Ehud said, “I have a message from God ⁴  for you.” When Eglon rose up from his seat, ⁵ 

Hakim-hakim 21:18

21:18 But we can’t allow our daughters to marry them, ⁶  for the Israelites took an oath, saying, ‘Whoever gives a woman to a Benjaminite will be destroyed!’ ⁷

[3:6]  ² tn Or “served”; or “followed” (this term occurs in the following verse as well).

[3:20]  ³ tn Or “cool.” This probably refers to a room with latticed windows which allowed the breeze to pass through. See B. Lindars, Judges 1-5, 144.

[3:20]  ⁴ tn Heb “word of [i.e., from] God.”

[3:20]  ⁵ tn Or “throne.”

[21:18]  ⁶ tn Heb “But we are not able to give to them wives from our daughters.”

[21:18]  ⁷ tn Heb “is cursed.”
