Hakim-hakim 3:10

3:10 The Lord’s spirit empowered him ¹  and he led Israel. When he went to do battle, the Lord handed over to him King Cushan-Rishathaim of Aram and he overpowered him. ² 

Hakim-hakim 19:8

19:8 He woke up early in the morning on the fifth day so he could leave, but the girl’s father said, “Get some energy. ³  Wait until later in the day to leave!” ⁴  So they ate a meal together.

Civil War Breaks Out

20:1 All the Israelites from Dan to Beer Sheba ⁵  and from the land of Gilead ⁶  left their homes ⁷  and assembled together ⁸  before the Lord at Mizpah.

Hakim-hakim 21:7

21:7 How can we find wives for those who are left? ⁹  After all, we took an oath in the Lord’s name not to give them our daughters as wives.”

[3:10]  ¹ tn Heb “was on him.”

[3:10]  ² tn Heb “his hand was strong against Cushan-Rishathaim.”

[19:8]  ³ tn Heb “Sustain your heart.” He is once more inviting him to stay for a meal.

[19:8]  ⁴ tn Heb “Wait until the declining of the day.”

[20:1]  ⁵ sn Dan was located in the far north of the country, while Beer Sheba was located in the far south. This encompassed all the territory of the land of Canaan occupied by the Israelites.

[20:1]  ⁶ sn The land of Gilead was on the eastern side of the Jordan River.

[20:1]  ⁷ tn Heb “went out.”

[20:1]  ⁸ tn Heb “and the assembly was convened as one man.”

[21:7]  ⁹ tn Heb “What should we do for them, for the remaining ones, concerning wives?”
