TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Daniel 3:2

Konteks
3:2 Then King Nebuchadnezzar sent out a summons to assemble the satraps, prefects, governors, counselors, treasurers, judges, magistrates, 1  and all the other authorities of the province to attend the dedication of the statue that he 2  had erected.

Daniel 6:17

Konteks
6:17 Then a stone was brought and placed over the opening 3  to the den. The king sealed 4  it with his signet ring and with those 5  of his nobles so that nothing could be changed with regard to Daniel.

Daniel 7:20

Konteks
7:20 I also wanted to know 6  the meaning of the ten horns on its head, and of that other horn which came up and before which three others fell. This was the horn that had eyes 7  and a mouth speaking arrogant things, whose appearance was more formidable than the others. 8

Daniel 8:3

Konteks
8:3 I looked up 9  and saw 10  a 11  ram with two horns standing at the canal. Its two horns were both long, 12  but one was longer than the other. The longer one was coming up after the shorter one.

Daniel 8:13

Konteks

8:13 Then I heard a holy one 13  speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking, “To what period of time does the vision pertain – this vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the destructive act of rebellion and the giving over of both the sanctuary and army to be trampled?”

Daniel 9:27

Konteks

9:27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one week. 14

But in the middle of that week

he will bring sacrifices and offerings to a halt.

On the wing 15  of abominations will come 16  one who destroys,

until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys.”

Daniel 11:10

Konteks
11:10 His sons 17  will wage war, mustering a large army which will advance like an overflowing river and carrying the battle all the way to the enemy’s 18  fortress. 19

Daniel 11:17

Konteks
11:17 His intention 20  will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom, and he will form alliances. 21  He will give the king of the south 22  a daughter 23  in marriage in order to destroy the kingdom, but it will not turn out to his advantage.

Daniel 11:25

Konteks
11:25 He will rouse his strength and enthusiasm 24  against the king of the south 25  with a large army. The king of the south will wage war with a large and very powerful army, but he will not be able to prevail because of the plans devised against him.

Daniel 12:7

Konteks
12:7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky 26  and made an oath by the one who lives forever: “It is for a time, times, and half a time. Then, when the power of the one who shatters 27  the holy people has been exhausted, all these things will be finished.”

[3:2]  1 sn The specific duties of the seven types of officials listed here (cf. vv. 3, 27) are unclear. The Aramaic words that are used are transliterations of Akkadian or Persian technical terms whose exact meanings are uncertain. The translations given here follow suggestions set forth in BDB.

[3:2]  2 tn Aram “Nebuchadnezzar the king.” The proper name and title have been replaced by the relative pronoun (“he”) in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[6:17]  3 tn Aram “mouth.”

[6:17]  4 sn The purpose of the den being sealed was to prevent unauthorized tampering with the opening of the den. Any disturbance of the seal would immediately alert the officials to improper activity of this sort.

[6:17]  5 tn Aram “the signet rings.”

[7:20]  6 tn The words “I also wanted to know” are added in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[7:20]  7 tc The conjunction in the MT before “eyes” is odd. The ancient versions do not seem to presuppose it.

[7:20]  8 tn Aram “greater than its companions.”

[8:3]  9 tn Heb “lifted my eyes.”

[8:3]  10 tn Heb “and behold.”

[8:3]  11 tn Heb “one.” The Hebrew numerical adjective occasionally functions like an English indefinite article. See GKC 401 §125.b.

[8:3]  12 tn Heb “high” (also “higher” later in this verse).

[8:13]  13 sn The holy one referred to here is presumably an angel. Cf. 4:13[10], 23 [20].

[9:27]  14 tn Heb “one seven” (also later in this line).

[9:27]  15 tn The referent of the Hebrew word כְּנַף (kÿnaf, “wing”) is unclear here. The LXX and Theodotion have “the temple.” Some English versions (e.g., NAB, NIV) take this to mean “a wing of the temple,” but this is not clear.

[9:27]  16 tn The Hebrew text does not have this verb, but it has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

[11:10]  17 sn The sons of Seleucus II Callinicus were Seleucus III Ceraunus (ca. 227-223 B.C.) and Antiochus III the Great (ca. 223-187 B.C.).

[11:10]  18 tn Heb “his”; the referent (the enemy of the king of the north) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[11:10]  19 tn Heb “and he will certainly come and overflow and cross over and return and be aroused unto a fortress.” The translation has attempted to simplify the syntax of this difficult sequence.

[11:17]  20 tn Heb “and he will set his face.” Cf. vv. 18, 19.

[11:17]  21 tc The present translation reads מֵישָׁרִים (mesharim, “alliances”) for the MT וִישָׁרִים (viysharim, “uprightness”).

[11:17]  22 tn Heb “him”; the referent (the king of the south) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[11:17]  23 tn Heb “the daughter of the women.”

[11:17]  sn The daughter refers to Cleopatra, the daughter of Antiochus, who was given in marriage to Ptolemy V.

[11:25]  24 tn Heb “heart.”

[11:25]  25 sn This king of the south was Ptolemy Philometer (ca. 181-145 B.C.).

[12:7]  26 tn Or “to the heavens.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heavens” or “sky” depending on the context.

[12:7]  27 tc The present translation reads יַד־נֹפֵץ (yad-nofets, “hand of one who shatters”) rather than the MT נַפֵּץ־יַד (nappets-yad, “to shatter the hand”).
