Bilangan 8:16

8:16 For they are entirely given ¹  to me from among the Israelites. I have taken them for myself instead of ²  all who open the womb, the firstborn sons of all the Israelites.

Bilangan 15:26

15:26 And the whole community ³  of the Israelites and the resident foreigner who lives among them will be forgiven, since all the people were involved in the unintentional offense.

Duties of the Levites

18:20 The Lord spoke to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion of property ⁴  among them – I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.

Bilangan 26:2

26:2 “Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, from twenty years old and upward, by their clans, ⁵  everyone who can serve in the army of Israel.” ⁶ 

[8:16]  ¹ tn As before, the emphasis is obtained by repeating the passive participle: “given, given to me.”

[8:16]  ² tn Or “as substitutes” for all the firstborn of the Israelites.

[15:26]  ³ tn Again, rather than translate literally “and it shall be forgiven [to] them” (all the community), one could say, “they (all the community) will be forgiven.” The meaning is the same.

[18:20]  ⁴ tn The phrase “of property” is supplied as a clarification.

[26:2]  ⁵ tn Heb “house of their fathers.”

[26:2]  ⁶ tn Heb “everyone who goes out in the army in Israel.”
