Ayub 19:24
Konteks19:24 that with an iron chisel and with lead 1
they were engraved in a rock forever!
Mazmur 66:18-19
Konteks66:18 If I had harbored sin in my heart, 2
the Lord would not have listened.
66:19 However, God heard;
he listened to my prayer.
Ibrani 11:4
Konteks11:4 By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, and through his faith 3 he was commended as righteous, because God commended him for his offerings. And through his faith 4 he still speaks, though he is dead.
[19:24] 1 sn There is some question concerning the use of the lead. It surely cannot be a second description of the tool, for a lead tool would be of no use in chiseling words into a rock. It was Rashi’s idea, followed by Dillmann and Duhm, that lead was run into the cut-out letters. The suggestion that they wrote on lead tablets does not seem to fit the verse (cf. NIV). See further A. Baker, “The Strange Case of Job’s Chisel,” CBQ 31 (1969): 370-79.
[66:18] 2 tn Heb “sin if I had seen in my heart.”
[11:4] 3 tn Or “through his sacrifice”; Grk “through which.”
