[4:21]  1 tn Or “glorifying.”

[4:33]  2 tn Grk “And with.” Because of the difference between Greek style, which often begins sentences or clauses with “and,” and English style, which generally does not, καί (kai) has not been translated here.

[4:33]  3 tn Or “were witnessing.”

[2:52]  4 tn Or “kept increasing.” The imperfect tense suggests something of a progressive force to the verb.

[19:48]  5 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present in this context.

[19:48]  6 tn Grk “they did not find the thing that they might do.”

[19:48]  7 sn All the people hung on his words is an idiom for intent, eager listening. Jesus’ popularity and support made it unwise for the leadership to seize him.

[14:18]  8 tn Grk “by men”; but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is generic here (“people”) since the contrast in context is between God and humanity.
