2 Timotius 1:1

Salutation

1:1 From Paul, ¹  an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promise ²  of life in Christ Jesus,

2 Timotius 2:15

2:15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately. ³ 

2 Timotius 3:6

3:6 For some of these insinuate themselves ⁴  into households and captivate weak women ⁵  who are overwhelmed with sins and led along by various passions.

[1:1]  ¹ tn Grk “Paul.” The word “from” is not in the Greek text, but has been supplied to indicate the sender of the letter.

[1:1]  ² tn Grk “for the promise…” or possibly “in accordance with the promise…”

[2:15]  ³ sn Accurately is a figure of speech that literally means something like “cutting a straight road.” In regard to the message of truth, it means “correctly handling” or “imparting it without deviation.”

[3:6]  ⁴ tn Grk “For from these are those who sneak.”

[3:6]  ⁵ tn Or “silly women.”
