7:17 You must serve me as your father David did. Do everything I commanded and obey my rules and regulations. ¹ 

2 Tawarikh 24:20

24:20 God’s Spirit energized ²  Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood up before the people and said to them, “This is what God says: ‘Why are you violating the commands of the Lord? You will not be prosperous! Because you have rejected the Lord, he has rejected you!’”

2 Tawarikh 33:8

33:8 I will not make Israel again leave the land I gave to their ancestors, ³  provided that they carefully obey all I commanded them, the whole law, the rules and regulations given to Moses.”

[7:17]  ¹ tn Heb “As for you, if you walk before me, as David your father walked, by doing all which I commanded you, [and] you keep my rules and my regulations.”

[7:17]  sn Verse 17 is actually a lengthy protasis (“if” section) of a conditional sentence, the apodosis (“then” section) of which appears in v. 18.
