2 Tawarikh 25:19

25:19 You defeated Edom ¹  and it has gone to your head. ²  Gloat over your success, ³  but stay in your palace. Why bring calamity on yourself? Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?” ⁴ 

2 Tawarikh 34:25

34:25 This will happen because they have abandoned me and offered sacrifices ⁵  to other gods, angering me with all the idols they have made. ⁶  My anger will ignite against this place and will not be extinguished!’”

2 Tawarikh 35:15

35:15 The musicians, the descendants of Asaph, manned their posts, as prescribed by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s prophet. ⁷  The guards at the various gates did not need to leave their posts, for their fellow Levites made preparations for them.

[25:19]  ¹ tn Heb “you say [to yourself], ‘look, you have defeated Edom.’”

[25:19]  ³ tn Heb “to glorify.”

[25:19]  ⁴ tn Heb “Why get involved in calamity and fall, you and Judah with you?”

[34:25]  ⁵ tn Or “burned incense.”

[34:25]  ⁶ tn Heb “angering me with all the work of their hands.” The present translation assumes this refers to idols they have manufactured (note the preceding reference to “other gods”). However, it is possible that this is a general reference to their sinful practices, in which case one might translate, “angering me by all the things they do.”

[35:15]  ⁷ tn Or “seer.”
