21:7 But the Lord was unwilling to destroy David’s dynasty ¹  because of the promise ²  he had made to give David a perpetual dynasty. ³

25:14 When Amaziah returned from defeating the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people ⁴  of Seir and made them his personal gods. ⁵  He bowed down before them and offered them sacrifices.

[21:7]  ³ tn Heb “which he made to David, just as he had promised to give him and his sons a lamp all the days.” Here “lamp” is metaphorical, symbolizing the Davidic dynasty.
