2:10 Look, I will pay your servants who cut the timber 20,000 kors ¹  of ground wheat, 20,000 kors of barley, 120,000 gallons ²  of wine, and 120,000 gallons of olive oil.”

2 Tawarikh 10:14

10:14 and followed the advice of the younger ones. He said, “My father imposed heavy demands on you; ³  I will make them even heavier. ⁴  My father punished you with ordinary whips; I will punish you with whips that really sting your flesh.” ⁵

15:16 King Asa also removed Maacah his grandmother ⁶  from her position as queen mother ⁷  because she had made a loathsome Asherah pole. Asa cut down her Asherah pole and crushed and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

2 Tawarikh 32:33

32:33 Hezekiah passed away ⁸  and was buried on the ascent of the tombs of the descendants of David. All the people of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem buried him with great honor. ⁹  His son Manasseh replaced him as king.

[2:10]  ¹ sn As a unit of dry measure a kor was roughly equivalent to six bushels (about 220 liters).

[2:10]  ² tn Heb “20,000 baths” (also a second time later in this verse). A bath was a liquid measure roughly equivalent to six gallons (about 22 liters), so this was a quantity of about 120,000 gallons (440,000 liters).

[10:14]  ³ tc The Hebrew text reads, “I will make heavy your yoke,” but many medieval Hebrew mss and other ancient textual witnesses have, “my father made heavy your yoke.”

[10:14]  ⁴ tn Heb “but I will add to your yoke.”

[10:14]  ⁵ tn Heb “My father punished you with whips, but I [will punish you] with scorpions.” “Scorpions” might allude to some type of torture, but more likely it refers to a type of whip that inflicts an especially biting, painful wound.

[15:16]  ⁶ tn Heb “mother,” but Hebrew often uses “father” and “mother” for grandparents and even more remote ancestors.

[15:16]  ⁷ tn The Hebrew term גְּבִירָה (gÿvirah) can denote “queen” or “queen mother” depending on the context. Here the latter is indicated, since Maacah was the wife of Rehoboam and mother of Abijah.

[32:33]  ⁸ tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

[32:33]  ⁹ tn Heb “and honor they did to him in his death, all Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.”
