TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

2 Samuel 6:20

Konteks
6:20 When David went home to pronounce a blessing on his own house, 1  Michal, Saul’s daughter, came out to meet him. 2  She said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished 3  himself this day! He has exposed himself today before his servants’ slave girls the way a vulgar fool 4  might do!”

2 Samuel 7:19

Konteks
7:19 And you didn’t stop there, O Lord God! You have also spoken about the future of your servant’s family. 5  Is this your usual way of dealing with men, 6  O Lord God?

2 Samuel 13:32

Konteks

13:32 Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah, said, “My lord should not say, ‘They have killed all the young men who are the king’s sons.’ For only Amnon is dead. This is what Absalom has talked about 7  from the day that Amnon 8  humiliated his sister Tamar.

2 Samuel 14:13

Konteks
14:13 The woman said, “Why have you devised something like this against God’s people? When the king speaks in this fashion, he makes himself guilty, for the king has not brought back the one he has banished.

2 Samuel 18:32

Konteks
18:32 The king asked the Cushite, “How is the young man Absalom?” The Cushite replied, “May the enemies of my lord the king and all who have plotted against you 9  be like that young man!”

2 Samuel 20:6

Konteks

20:6 Then David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba son of Bicri will cause greater disaster for us than Absalom did! Take your lord’s servants and pursue him. Otherwise he will secure 10  fortified cities for himself and get away from us.”

2 Samuel 24:10

Konteks

24:10 David felt guilty 11  after he had numbered the army. David said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly by doing this! Now, O Lord, please remove the guilt of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”

[6:20]  1 tn Heb “and David returned to bless his house.”

[6:20]  2 tn Heb “David.” The name has been replaced by the pronoun (“him”) in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[6:20]  3 tn Heb “honored.”

[6:20]  4 tn Heb “one of the foolish ones.”

[7:19]  5 tn Heb “and this was small in your eyes, O Lord God, so you spoke concerning the house of your servant for a distance.”

[7:19]  6 tn Heb “and this [is] the law of man”; KJV “is this the manner of man, O Lord God?”; NAB “this too you have shown to man”; NRSV “May this be instruction for the people, O Lord God!” This part of the verse is very enigmatic; no completely satisfying solution has yet been suggested. The present translation tries to make sense of the MT by understanding the phrase as a question that underscores the uniqueness of God’s dealings with David as described here. The parallel passage in 1 Chr 17:17 reads differently (see the note there).

[13:32]  7 tn Heb “it was placed on the mouth of Absalom.”

[13:32]  8 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Amnon) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[18:32]  9 tn Heb “and all those rising against you for evil.”

[20:6]  10 tn Heb “find.” The perfect verbal form is unexpected with the preceding word “otherwise.” We should probably read instead the imperfect. Although it is possible to understand the perfect here as indicating that the feared result is thought of as already having taken place (cf. BDB 814 s.v. פֶּן 2), it is more likely that the perfect is simply the result of scribal error. In this context the imperfect would be more consistent with the following verb וְהִצִּיל (vÿhitsil, “and he will get away”).

[24:10]  11 tn Heb “and the heart of David struck him.”
