3:35 Then all the people came and encouraged David to eat food while it was still day. But David took an oath saying, “God will punish me severely ¹  if I taste bread or anything whatsoever before the sun sets!”

2 Samuel 19:37

19:37 Let me ²  return so that I may die in my own city near the grave of my father and my mother. But look, here is your servant Kimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king. Do for him whatever seems appropriate to you.”

2 Samuel 24:22

24:22 Araunah told David, “My lord the king may take whatever he wishes ³  and offer it. Look! Here are oxen for burnt offerings, and threshing sledges ⁴  and harnesses ⁵  for wood.

[24:22]  ⁴ sn Threshing sledges were heavy boards used in ancient times for loosening grain from husks. On the bottom sides of these boards sharp stones were embedded, and the boards were then dragged across the grain on a threshing floor by an ox or donkey.
