2 Samuel 7:19

Konteks

2 Samuel 12:8

Konteks
12:8 I gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your arms. 6  I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well!

[3:18]  1 tc The present translation follows the LXX, the Syriac Peshitta, and Vulgate in reading “I will save,” rather than the MT “he saved.” The context calls for the 1st person common singular imperfect of the verb rather than the 3rd person masculine singular perfect.

[3:18]  2 tn Heb “from the hand of.”

[4:8]  3 tn Heb “from.”

[7:19]  4 tn Heb “and this was small in your eyes, O Lord God, so you spoke concerning the house of your servant for a distance.”

[7:19]  5 tn Heb “and this [is] the law of man”; KJV “is this the manner of man, O Lord God?”; NAB “this too you have shown to man”; NRSV “May this be instruction for the people, O Lord God!” This part of the verse is very enigmatic; no completely satisfying solution has yet been suggested. The present translation tries to make sense of the MT by understanding the phrase as a question that underscores the uniqueness of God’s dealings with David as described here. The parallel passage in 1 Chr 17:17 reads differently (see the note there).

[12:8]  6 tn Heb “and the wives of your lord into your chest [or “lap”].” The words “I put” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarification.

[21:20]  7 tn Heb “a man of stature.”

[24:24]  8 tn Heb “fifty shekels of silver.” This would have been about 20 ounces (568 grams) of silver by weight.
