2 Samuel 3:21

Konteks
3:21 Abner said to David, “Let me leave so that I may go and gather all Israel to my lord the king so that they may make an agreement 3  with you. Then you will rule over all that you desire.” So David sent Abner away, and he left in peace.

2 Samuel 12:18

Konteks

12:18 On the seventh day the child died. But the servants of David were afraid to inform him that the child had died, for they said, “While the child was still alive he would not listen to us 4  when we spoke to him. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He will do himself harm!” 5

2 Samuel 13:6

Konteks

13:6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be sick. When the king came in to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come in so she can make a couple of cakes in my sight. Then I will eat from her hand.”

2 Samuel 14:13

Konteks
14:13 The woman said, “Why have you devised something like this against God’s people? When the king speaks in this fashion, he makes himself guilty, for the king has not brought back the one he has banished.

2 Samuel 15:2

15:2 Now Absalom used to get up early and stand beside the road that led to the city gate. [3:18]  1 tc The present translation follows the LXX, the Syriac Peshitta, and Vulgate in reading “I will save,” rather than the MT “he saved.” The context calls for the 1st person common singular imperfect of the verb rather than the 3rd person masculine singular perfect.

[3:18]  2 tn Heb “from the hand of.”

[3:21]  3 tn After the cohortatives, the prefixed verbal form with the prefixed conjunction indicates purpose or result.

[12:18]  4 tn Heb “to our voice.”

[12:18]  5 tn Heb “he will do harm.” The object is not stated in the Hebrew text. The statement may be intentionally vague, meaning that he might harm himself or them!

[15:2]  6 tn Heb “your servant.” So also in vv. 8, 15, 21.

[17:14]  7 tn Heb “commanded.”

[17:21]  8 tn Heb “they”; the referents (Ahimaaz and Jonathan) have been specified in the translation for clarity.

[17:21]  9 tn Heb “the water.”

[17:21]  10 tn Heb “for thus Ahithophel has devised against you.” The expression “thus” is narrative shorthand, referring to the plan outlined by Ahithophel (see vv. 1-3). The men would surely have outlined the plan in as much detail as they had been given by the messenger.

[23:9]  11 tn Heb “after him.”

[23:9]  12 tc This follows the Qere and many medieval Hebrew mss in reading דֹּדוֹ (dodo) rather than the Kethib of the MT דֹּדַי (dodai; cf. ASV, NIV, NLT). But see 1 Chr 27:4.

[23:9]  13 tn Heb “went up.”
