6:11 This made the king of Syria upset. ¹  So he summoned his advisers ²  and said to them, “One of us must be helping the king of Israel.” ³

9:11 When Jehu rejoined ⁴  his master’s servants, they ⁵  asked him, “Is everything all right? ⁶  Why did this madman visit you?” He replied, “Ah, it’s not important. You know what kind of man he is and the kinds of things he says.” ⁷

19:6 Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘This is what the Lord says: “Don’t be afraid because of the things you have heard – these insults the king of Assyria’s servants have hurled against me. ⁸

19:10 “Tell King Hezekiah of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust mislead you when he says, “Jerusalem will not be handed over ⁹  to the king of Assyria.”

[6:11]  ³ tn Heb “Will you not tell me who among us [is] for the king of Israel?” The sarcastic rhetorical question expresses the king’s suspicion.

[9:11]  ⁴ tn Heb “went out to.”

[9:11]  ⁵ tc The MT has the singular, “he said,” but many witnesses correctly read the plural.

[9:11]  ⁶ tn Heb “Is there peace?”

[9:11]  ⁷ tn Heb “He said, ‘You, you know the man and his thoughts.’” Jehu tries to deflect their question by reminding them that the man is an eccentric individual who says strange things. His reply suggests that the man said nothing of importance. The translation seeks to bring out the tone and intent of Jehu’s reply.

[19:6]  ⁸ tn Heb “by which the servants of the king of Assyria have insulted me.”

[19:10]  ⁹ tn Heb “will not be given.”
