4:40 The stew was poured out ¹  for the men to eat. When they ate some of the stew, they cried out, “Death is in the pot, O prophet!” They could not eat it.

9:26 ‘“Know for sure that I saw the shed blood of Naboth and his sons yesterday,” says the Lord, “and that I will give you what you deserve right here in this plot of land,” ²  says the Lord.’ So now pick him up and throw him into this plot of land, just as the Lord said.” ³

Messengers from Babylon Visit Hezekiah

20:12 At that time Merodach-Baladan ⁴  son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah was ill.

[4:40]  ¹ tn Heb “and they poured out [the stew].” The plural subject is probably indefinite.

[9:26]  ² tn Heb “and I will repay you in this plot of land.”

[9:26]  ³ tn Heb “according to the word of the Lord.”

[20:12]  ⁴ tc The MT has “Berodach-Baladan,” but several Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, and Latin witnesses agree with the parallel passage in Isa 39:1 and read “Merodach-Baladan.”
