[4:25]  1 tn Heb “went and came.”

[4:25]  2 tn Heb “the man of God.” The phrase has been replaced by the relative pronoun “he” in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[6:10]  3 tn The vav + perfect here indicates action contemporary with the preceding main verb (“sent”). See IBHS 533-34 §32.2.3e.

[6:10]  4 tn Heb “and the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God spoke to him, and he warned it and he guarded himself there, not once and not twice.”

[9:34]  5 tn Heb “and he went and ate and drank.”

[9:34]  6 tn Heb “Attend to this accursed woman and bury her for she was the daughter of a king.”

[10:7]  7 tn Heb “and when the letter came to them, they took the sons of the king and slaughtered seventy men.”

[11:13]  8 tc The MT reads, “and Athaliah heard the sound of the runners, the people.” The term הָעָם (haam), “the people,” is probably a scribal addition anticipating the reference to the people later in the verse and in v. 14.

[11:13]  9 tn Heb “she came to the people.”

[13:3]  10 tn Heb “and the anger of the Lord burned against.”

[13:3]  11 tn Heb “he gave them into the hand of.”

[13:3]  12 tn Heb “all the days.”

[19:7]  13 tn Heb “I will put in him a spirit.” The precise sense of רוּחַ (ruakh), “spirit,” is uncertain in this context. It may refer to a spiritual being who will take control of his mind (see 1 Kgs 22:19), or it could refer to a disposition of concern and fear. In either case the Lord’s sovereignty over the king is apparent.

[19:7]  14 tn Heb “hear.”

[19:7]  15 tn Heb “cause him to fall,” that is, “kill him.”

[20:9]  16 tn The Hebrew הָלַךְ (halakh, a perfect), “it has moved ahead,” should be emended to הֲיֵלֵךְ (hayelekh, an imperfect with interrogative he [ה] prefixed), “shall it move ahead.”
