TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

2 Raja-raja 19:25

Konteks

19:25 1 Certainly you must have heard! 2

Long ago I worked it out,

In ancient times I planned 3  it;

and now I am bringing it to pass.

The plan is this:

Fortified cities will crash

into heaps of ruins. 4

Yesaya 14:22-23

Konteks

14:22 “I will rise up against them,”

says the Lord who commands armies.

“I will blot out all remembrance of Babylon and destroy all her people, 5

including the offspring she produces,” 6

says the Lord.

14:23 “I will turn her into a place that is overrun with wild animals 7

and covered with pools of stagnant water.

I will get rid of her, just as one sweeps away dirt with a broom,” 8

says the Lord who commands armies.

Yeremia 51:62-64

Konteks
51:62 Then say, ‘O Lord, you have announced that you will destroy this place so that no people or animals live in it any longer. Certainly it will lie desolate forever!’ 51:63 When you finish reading this scroll aloud, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates River. 9  51:64 Then say, ‘In the same way Babylon will sink and never rise again because of the judgments 10  I am ready to bring upon her; they will grow faint.’”

The prophecies of Jeremiah end here. 11

[19:25]  1 tn Having quoted the Assyrian king’s arrogant words in vv. 23-24, the Lord now speaks to the king.

[19:25]  2 tn Heb “Have you not heard?” The rhetorical question expresses the Lord’s amazement that anyone might be ignorant of what he is about to say.

[19:25]  3 tn Heb “formed.”

[19:25]  4 tn Heb “and it is to cause to crash into heaps of ruins fortified cities.” The subject of the third feminine singular verb תְּהִי (tÿhi) is the implied plan, referred to in the preceding lines with third feminine singular pronominal suffixes.

[14:22]  5 tn Heb “I will cut off from Babylon name and remnant” (ASV, NAB, and NRSV all similar).

[14:22]  6 tn Heb “descendant and child.”

[14:23]  7 tn Heb “I will make her into a possession of wild animals.” It is uncertain what type of animal קִפֹּד (qippod) refers to. Some suggest a rodent (cf. NASB, NRSV “hedgehog”), others an owl (cf, NAB, NIV, TEV).

[14:23]  8 tn Heb “I will sweep her away with the broom of destruction.”

[51:63]  9 tn The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied for clarity.

[51:64]  10 tn Or “disaster”; or “calamity.”

[51:64]  11 sn The final chapter of the book of Jeremiah does not mention Jeremiah or record any of his prophecies.
