11:5 The residents of Jebus said to David, “You cannot invade this place!” But David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the City of David).

14:11 So they marched against Baal Perazim and David defeated them there. David said, “Using me as his instrument, ¹  God has burst out against my enemies like water bursts out.” So that place is called Baal Perazim. ²

22:5 David said, “My son Solomon is just an inexperienced young man, ⁵  and the temple to be built for the Lord must be especially magnificent so it will become famous and be considered splendid by all the nations. ⁶  Therefore I will make preparations for its construction.” So David made extensive preparations before he died.

22:9 Look, you will have a son, who will be a peaceful man. ⁷  I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. ⁸  Indeed, Solomon ⁹  will be his name; I will give Israel peace and quiet during his reign. ¹⁰

28:2 King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the Lord’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. ¹¹  I have made the preparations for building it.
