[1:45]  1 tn I.e., designated by anointing with oil.

[5:3]  2 tn Heb “a house for the name of the Lord.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor. The “name” of the Lord sometimes designates the Lord himself, being indistinguishable from the proper name.

[5:3]  3 tn Heb “because of the battles which surrounded him until the Lord placed them under the soles of his feet.”

[12:9]  4 tn In the Hebrew text the verb “we will respond” is plural, although it can be understood as an editorial “we.” The ancient versions have the singular here.

[12:9]  5 tn Heb “Lighten the yoke which your father placed on us.”

[22:30]  6 tn The Hebrew verbal forms could be imperatives (“Disguise yourself and enter”), but this would make no sense in light of the immediately following context. The forms are better interpreted as infinitives absolute functioning as cohortatives. See IBHS 594 §35.5.2a. Some prefer to emend the forms to imperfects.
