When he imposed a limit ¹  for the rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, ² 

For observing the festival is a requirement for Israel; ¹  it is an ordinance given by the God of Jacob.

Cruel rulers ¹  are not your allies, those who make oppressive laws. ²

It will belong to Aaron and his sons, and they must eat it in a holy place because it is most holy to him, a perpetual allotted portion ¹  from the gifts of the Lord.”

Now Ezra had dedicated himself ¹  to the study of the law of the Lord, to its observance, and to teaching ²  its statutes and judgments in Israel.
