you animals and all you cattle, you creeping things and birds,

to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between the living creatures that may be eaten and the living creatures that must not be eaten.’”

The cherubim rose up; these were the living beings ¹  I saw at the Kebar River.

While Gehazi ¹  was telling the king how Elisha ²  had brought the dead back to life, the woman whose son he had brought back to life came to ask the king for her house and field. ³  Gehazi said, “My master, O king, this is the very woman and this is her son whom Elisha brought back to life!”

Over the heads of the living beings was something like a platform, ¹  glittering awesomely like ice, ²  stretched out over their heads.

When the cherubim ¹  stood still, the wheels ²  stood still, and when they rose up, the wheels ³  rose up with them, for the spirit ⁴  of the living beings ⁵  was in the wheels. ⁶ 

“Suppose I were to send wild animals through the land and kill its children, leaving it desolate, without travelers due to the wild animals.

Then ¹  he is to take the live bird along with the piece of cedar wood, the scrap of crimson fabric, and the twigs of hyssop, and he is to dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird slaughtered over the fresh water,

Every living creature, every creeping thing, every bird, and everything that moves on the earth went out of the ark in their groups.

and with every living creature that is with you, including the birds, the domestic animals, and every living creature of the earth with you, all those that came out of the ark with you – every living creature of the earth. ¹ 

“Tell the Israelites: ‘This is the kind of creature you may eat from among all the animals ¹  that are on the land.

All that walk on their paws among all the creatures that walk on all fours ¹  are unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass will be unclean until the evening,

This is the law ¹  of the land animals, the birds, all the living creatures that move in the water, and all the creatures ²  that swarm on the land,

and sprinkle it seven times on the one being cleansed ¹  from the disease, pronounce him clean, ²  and send the live bird away over the open countryside. ³ 

So he is to decontaminate the house with the blood of the bird, the fresh water, the live bird, the piece of cedar wood, the twigs of hyssop, and the scrap of crimson fabric,

and he is to send the live bird away outside the city ¹  into the open countryside. So he is to make atonement for the house and it will be clean.

Wherever the spirit ¹  would go, they would go, ²  and the wheels would rise up beside them because the spirit ³  of the living being was in the wheel.

When the living beings moved, the wheels moved, and when they stopped moving, the wheels stopped. ¹  When they rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up from the ground; the wheels rose up beside them because the spirit of the living being was in the wheel.

These were the living creatures ¹  which I saw at the Kebar River underneath the God of Israel; I knew that they were cherubim.

God created the great sea creatures ¹  and every living and moving thing with which the water swarmed, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
