you will vomit up ¹  the little bit you have eaten, and will have wasted your pleasant words. ² 

Crumble it in pieces ¹  and pour olive oil on it – it is a grain offering.

If I ate my morsel of bread myself, and did not share any of it with orphans ¹  –

He throws his hailstones ¹  like crumbs. Who can withstand the cold wind he sends? ² 

As she went to get it, he called out to her, “Please bring me a piece of bread.” ¹ 

Better is a dry crust of bread ¹  where there is quietness ²  than a house full of feasting with strife. ³ 

To show partiality ¹  is terrible, ²  for a person will transgress over the smallest piece of bread. ³ 

And let me get ¹  a bit of food ²  so that you may refresh yourselves ³  since you have passed by your servant’s home. After that you may be on your way.” ⁴  “All right,” they replied, “you may do as you say.”

It must be made with olive oil on a griddle and you must bring it well soaked, ¹  so you must present a grain offering of broken pieces ²  as a soothing aroma to the Lord.

On the fourth day they woke up early and the Levite got ready to leave. ¹  But the girl’s father said to his son-in-law, “Have a bite to eat for some energy, ²  then you can go.”

Now it’s your turn to listen to your servant! Let me set before you a bit of bread so that you can eat. When you regain your strength, you can go on your way.”

Later during the mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come here and have ¹  some food! Dip your bread ²  in the vinegar!” So she sat down beside the harvesters. Then he handed ³  her some roasted grain. She ate until she was full and saved the rest. ⁴ 

Everyone who remains in your house will come to bow before him for a little money ¹  and for a scrap of bread. Each will say, ‘Assign me to a priestly task so I can eat a scrap of bread.’”

But the poor man had nothing except for a little lamb he had acquired. He raised it, and it grew up alongside him and his children. ¹  It used to ²  eat his food, ³  drink from his cup, and sleep in his arms. ⁴  It was just like a daughter to him.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. You have put to death people ¹  who should not die and kept alive those who should not live by your lies to my people, who listen to lies!
