God chose ¹  what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

So when Jacob heard that there was grain ¹  in Egypt, he sent our ancestors ²  there ³  the first time.

For I see that you are bitterly envious ¹  and in bondage to sin.”

who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God’s ¹  house. ² 

(as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”). ¹  He is our father ²  in the presence of God whom he believed – the God who ³  makes the dead alive and summons the things that do not yet exist as though they already do. ⁴
