The Fall of Jerusalem

11:1 A wind ¹  lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s temple that faces the east. There, at the entrance of the gate, I noticed twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people. ²

47:9 Every living creature which swarms where the river ³  flows will live; there will be many fish, for these waters flow there. It will become fresh ⁴  and everything will live where the river flows.

[47:9]  ³ tn Heb “two rivers,” perhaps under the influence of Zech 14:8. The translation follows the LXX and other ancient versions in reading the singular, which is demanded by the context (see vv. 5-7, 9b, 12).
