[33:8]  1 tn In this context “fear” probably means “to demonstrate respect for the Lord’s power and authority by worshiping him and obeying his commandments.”

[46:8]  2 sn In this context the Lord’s exploits are military in nature (see vv. 8b-9).

[46:8]  3 tn Heb “who sets desolations in the earth” (see Isa 13:9). The active participle describes God’s characteristic activity as a warrior.

[74:17]  4 tn This would appear to refer to geographical boundaries, such as mountains, rivers, and seacoasts. However, since the day-night cycle has just been mentioned (v. 16) and the next line speaks of the seasons, it is possible that “boundaries” here refers to the divisions of the seasons. See C. A. Briggs and E. G. Briggs, Psalms (ICC), 2:156.

[74:17]  5 tn Heb “summer and winter, you, you formed them.”

[97:1]  6 sn Psalm 97. The psalmist depicts the Lord as the sovereign, just king of the world who comes in power to vindicate his people.

[97:9]  7 tn Traditionally “Most High.”

[109:15]  8 tn Heb “may they [that is, the sins mentioned in v. 14] be before the Lord continually.”

[109:15]  9 tn Heb “their memory.” The plural pronominal suffix probably refers back to the children mentioned in v. 13, and for clarity this has been specified in the translation.

[147:15]  10 tn Heb “the one who.”

[147:15]  11 tn Heb “the one who sends his word, the earth.” The Hebrew term אֶרֶץ (’erets, “earth”) is an adverbial accusative; one must supply a preposition before it (such as “through” or “to”) in the English translation.
