Psalm 15 ¹ 

A psalm of David.

15:1 Lord, who may be a guest in your home? ² 

Who may live on your holy hill? ³ 

Mazmur 61:4

61:4 I will be a permanent guest in your home; ⁴ 

I will find shelter in the protection of your wings. ⁵  (Selah)

Mazmur 69:35

69:35 For God will deliver Zion

and rebuild the cities of Judah,

and his people ⁶  will again live in them and possess Zion. ⁷ 

Mazmur 85:9

85:9 Certainly his loyal followers will soon experience his deliverance; ⁸ 

then his splendor will again appear in our land. ⁹ 

Mazmur 140:11

140:11 A slanderer ¹⁰  will not endure on ¹¹  the earth;

calamity will hunt down a violent man and strike him down. ¹² 

[15:1]  ¹ sn Psalm 15. This psalm describes the character qualities that one must possess to be allowed access to the divine presence.

[15:1]  ² tn Heb “Who may live as a resident alien in your tent?”

[15:1]  ³ sn In this context the Lord’s holy hill probably refers to Zion/Jerusalem. See Isa 66:20; Joel 2:1; 3:17; Zech 8:3; Pss 2:6; 43:3; 48:1; 87:1; Dan 9:16.

[61:4]  ⁴ tn Heb “I will live as a resident alien in your tent permanently.” The cohortative is understood here as indicating resolve. Another option is to take it as expressing a request, “please let me live” (cf. NASB, NRSV).

[61:4]  ⁵ sn I will find shelter in the protection of your wings. The metaphor compares God to a protective mother bird.

[69:35]  ⁶ tn Heb “they”; the referent (God’s people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[69:35]  ⁷ tn Heb “it.” The third feminine singular pronominal suffix probably refers to “Zion” (see Pss 48:12; 102:14); thus the referent has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[85:9]  ⁸ tn Heb “certainly his deliverance [is] near to those who fear him.”

[85:9]  ⁹ tn Heb “to dwell, glory, in our land.” “Glory” is the subject of the infinitive. The infinitive with -לְ (lÿ), “to dwell,” probably indicates result here (“then”). When God delivers his people and renews his relationship with them, he will once more reveal his royal splendor in the land.

[140:11]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “a man of a tongue.”

[140:11]  ¹¹ tn Heb “be established in.”

[140:11]  ¹² tn Heb “for blows.” The Hebrew noun מַדְחֵפֹה (madkhefoh, “blow”) occurs only here in the OT.
