Mazmur 66:12

66:12 You allowed men to ride over our heads;

we passed through fire and water,

but you brought us out into a wide open place. ¹ 

Mikha 7:10

7:10 When my enemies see this, they will be covered with shame.

They say ²  to me, “Where is the Lord your God?”

I will gloat over them. ³ 

Then they will be trampled down ⁴ 

like mud in the streets.

[66:12]  ¹ tc The MT reads רְוָיָה (“saturation”) but this should be emended to רְוָחָה (rÿvakhah, “wide open place”; i.e., “relief”), a reading supported by several ancient versions (LXX, Syriac, Jerome, Targum).

[7:10]  ² tn Heb “who say.” A new sentence was begun here in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[7:10]  ³ tn Heb “My eyes will look on them.”

[7:10]  ⁴ tn Heb “a trampled-down place.”
