5:14 More and more believers in the Lord were added to their number, ¹  crowds of both men and women.

14:2 But the Jews who refused to believe ²  stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds ³  against the brothers.

21:14 Because he could not be persuaded, ⁴  we said no more except, ⁵  “The Lord’s will be done.” ⁶

[14:2]  ² tn Or “who would not believe.”

[14:2]  ³ tn Or “embittered their minds” (Grk “their souls”). BDAG 502 s.v. κακόω 2 has “make angry, embitter τὰς ψυχάς τινων κατά τινος poison the minds of some persons against another Ac 14:2.”

[21:14]  ⁴ tn The participle πειθομένου (peiqomenou) in this genitive absolute construction has been translated as a causal adverbial participle.

[21:14]  ⁵ tn Grk “we became silent, saying.”

[21:14]  ⁶ sn “The Lord’s will be done.” Since no one knew exactly what would happen, the matter was left in the Lord’s hands.
