[26:14]  1 sn Two outer coverings made of stronger materials will be put over the tent and the curtain, the two inner layers.

[26:14]  2 tn See the note on this phrase in Exod 25:5.

[28:12]  3 sn This was to be a perpetual reminder that the priest ministers on behalf of the twelve tribes of Israel. Their names would always be borne by the priests.

[31:18]  4 sn The expression “the finger of God” has come up before in the book, in the plagues (Exod 8:15) to express that it was a demonstration of the power and authority of God. So here too the commandments given to Moses on stone tablets came from God. It too is a bold anthropomorphism; to attribute such a material action to Yahweh would have been thought provoking to say the least. But by using “God” and by stating it in an obviously figurative way, balance is maintained. Since no one writes with one finger, the expression simply says that the Law came directly from God.

[32:15]  5 tn The disjunctive vav (ו) serves here as a circumstantial clause indicator.

[36:14]  6 tn Heb “eleven curtains he made them.”

[37:16]  7 tn The suffixes on these could also indicate the indirect object (see Exod 25:29).

[38:26]  8 sn The weight would be about half an ounce.

[38:26]  9 tn Heb “upward.”

[38:26]  10 tn The phrase “in all” has been supplied.
