9:20 Noah, a man of the soil, ¹  began to plant a vineyard. ²

[9:20]  ¹ sn The epithet a man of the soil indicates that Noah was a farmer.

[9:20]  ² tn Or “Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard”; Heb “and Noah, a man of the ground, began and he planted a vineyard.”

[21:34]  ³ tn Heb “many days.”

[30:33]  ⁴ tn Heb “will answer on my behalf.”

[30:33]  ⁵ tn Heb “on the following day,” or “tomorrow.”

[30:33]  ⁶ tn Heb “when you come concerning my wage before you.”

[30:33]  sn Only the wage we agreed on. Jacob would have to be considered completely honest here, for he would have no control over the kind of animals born; and there could be no disagreement over which animals were his wages.

[30:33]  ⁷ tn Heb “every one which is not speckled and spotted among the lambs and dark among the goats, stolen it is with me.”
