TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yesaya 35:2

Konteks

35:2 Let it richly bloom; 1

let it rejoice and shout with delight! 2

It is given the grandeur 3  of Lebanon,

the splendor of Carmel and Sharon.

They will see the grandeur of the Lord,

the splendor of our God.

Yesaya 41:19-20

Konteks

41:19 I will make cedars, acacias, myrtles, and olive trees grow in the wilderness;

I will make evergreens, firs, and cypresses grow together in the desert.

41:20 I will do this so 4  people 5  will observe and recognize,

so they will pay attention and understand

that the Lord’s power 6  has accomplished this,

and that the Holy One of Israel has brought it into being.” 7

Yesaya 55:13

Konteks

55:13 Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes,

firs will grow in place of nettles;

they will be a monument to the Lord, 8

a permanent reminder that will remain. 9

Hosea 14:6-7

Konteks

14:6 His young shoots will grow;

his splendor will be like an olive tree,

his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.

14:7 People will reside again 10  in his shade;

they will plant and harvest grain in abundance. 11

They will blossom like a vine,

and his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon.

[35:2]  1 tn The ambiguous verb form תִּפְרַח (tifrakh) is translated as a jussive because it is parallel to the jussive form תָגֵל (tagel).

[35:2]  2 tn Heb “and let it rejoice, yes [with] rejoicing and shouting.” גִּילַת (gilat) may be an archaic feminine nominal form (see GKC 421 §130.b).

[35:2]  3 tn Or “glory” (KJV, NIV, NRSV); also a second time later in this verse.

[41:20]  4 tn The words “I will do this” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The Hebrew text has here simply, “in order that.”

[41:20]  5 tn Heb “they”; NAB, NRSV “that all may see”; CEV, NLT “Everyone will see.”

[41:20]  6 tn Heb “hand” (so KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV).

[41:20]  7 tn Or “created it” (KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV); TEV “has made it happen.”

[55:13]  8 tn Heb “to the Lord for a name.” For שֵׁם (shem) used in the sense of “monument,” see also 56:5, where it stands parallel to יָד (yad).

[55:13]  9 tn Or, more literally, “a permanent sign that will not be cut off.”

[14:7]  10 tn Hosea uses the similar-sounding terms יָשֻׁבוּ יֹשְׁבֵי (yashuvu yoshve, “the dwellers will return”) to create a wordplay between the roots שׁוּב (shuv, “to return”) and יָשַׁב (yashav, “to dwell; to reside”).

[14:7]  11 tn Heb “they will cause the grain to live” or “they will revive the grain.” Some English versions treat this as a comparison: “they shall revive as the corn” (KJV); “will flourish like the grain” (NIV).
