[45:22]  1 tn Heb “to all of them he gave, to each one, changes of outer garments.”

[45:22]  2 tn Heb “changes of outer garments.”

[45:2]  3 tn Heb “and he gave his voice in weeping,” meaning that Joseph could not restrain himself and wept out loud.

[45:2]  4 tn Heb “and the Egyptians heard and the household of Pharaoh heard.” Presumably in the latter case this was by means of a report.

[5:5]  5 tn Or “fear came on,” “fear seized”; Grk “fear happened to.”

[5:22]  6 tn The Greek term ὑπηρέτης (Juphreth") generally means “servant,” but in the NT is used for many different types of servants, like attendants to a king, the officers of the Sanhedrin (as here), assistants to magistrates, and (especially in the Gospel of John) Jewish guards in the Jerusalem temple (see L&N 35.20).

[5:22]  7 tn The words “for them” are not in the Greek text but are implied.

[5:22]  8 tn Grk “reported, saying.” The participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant in English and has not been translated.

[6:19]  9 tn The term σής (shs) refers to moths in general. It is specifically the larvae of moths that destroy clothing by eating holes in it (L&N 4.49; BDAG 922 s.v.). See Jas 5:2, which mentions “moth-eaten” clothing.
