18:17 His memory perishes from the earth,

he has no name in the land. ¹ 

Ayub 24:19

24:19 The drought as well as the heat carry away

the melted snow; ² 

so the grave ³  takes away those who have sinned. ⁴ 

[18:17]  ¹ tn Heb “outside.” Cf. ESV, “in the street,” referring to absence from his community’s memory.

[24:19]  ² tn Heb “the waters of the snow.”

[24:19]  ³ tn Or “so Sheol.”

[24:19]  ⁴ tn This is the meaning of the verse, which in Hebrew only has “The grave / they have sinned.”
