[5:20]  1 tn Heb “said” (i.e., to himself).

[5:20]  2 tn Heb “Look, my master spared this Syrian Naaman by not taking from his hand what he brought.”

[8:13]  3 tn Heb “Indeed, what is your servant, a dog, that he could do this great thing?” With his reference to a dog, Hazael is not denying that he is a “dog” and protesting that he would never commit such a dastardly “dog-like” deed. Rather, as Elisha’s response indicates, Hazael is suggesting that he, like a dog, is too insignificant to ever be in a position to lead such conquests.

[8:13]  4 tn Heb “The Lord has shown me you [as] king over Syria.”

[9:18]  5 tn Heb “the rider of the horse.”

[9:18]  6 tn Heb “Is there peace?”

[9:18]  7 tn Heb “What concerning you and concerning peace?” That is, “What concern is that to you?”

[19:4]  8 tn Heb “all the words of the chief adviser whom his master, the king of Assyria, sent to taunt the living God.”

[19:4]  9 tn Heb “and rebuke the words which the Lord your God hears.”

[19:4]  10 tn Heb “and lift up a prayer on behalf of the remnant that is found.”
