Elisha Miraculously Feeds a Hundred People

4:42 Now a man from Baal Shalisha brought some food for the prophet ¹  – twenty loaves of bread made from the firstfruits of the barley harvest, as well as fresh ears of grain. ²  Elisha ³  said, “Set it before the people so they may eat.”

5:8 When Elisha the prophet ⁴  heard that the king had torn his clothes, he sent this message to the king, “Why did you tear your clothes? Send him ⁵  to me so he may know there is a prophet in Israel.”

5:15 He and his entire entourage returned to the prophet. Naaman ⁶  came and stood before him. He said, “For sure ⁷  I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel! Now, please accept a gift from your servant.”

5:20 Gehazi, the prophet Elisha’s servant, thought, ⁸  “Look, my master did not accept what this Syrian Naaman offered him. ⁹  As certainly as the Lord lives, I will run after him and accept something from him.”

6:15 The prophet’s ¹⁰  attendant got up early in the morning. When he went outside there was an army surrounding the city, along with horses and chariots. He said to Elisha, ¹¹  “Oh no, my master! What will we do?”

7:19 But the officer replied to the prophet, “Look, even if the Lord made it rain by opening holes in the sky, could this happen so soon?” ¹²  Elisha ¹³  said, “Look, you will see it happen with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of the food!” ¹⁴

13:19 The prophet ¹⁵  got angry at him and said, “If you had struck the ground five or six times, you would have annihilated Syria! ¹⁶  But now, you will defeat Syria only three times.”

23:16 When Josiah turned around, he saw the tombs there on the hill. So he ordered the bones from the tombs to be brought; ¹⁷  he burned them on the altar and defiled it. This fulfilled the Lord’s announcement made by the prophet while Jeroboam stood by the altar during a festival. King Josiah ¹⁸  turned and saw the grave of the prophet who had foretold this. ¹⁹  23:17 He asked, “What is this grave marker I see?” The men from the city replied, “It’s the grave of the prophet ²⁰  who came from Judah and foretold these very things you have done to the altar of Bethel.”

Then he turned and saw the grave of the man of God [who proclaimed these words].” The extra material attested in the LXX was probably accidentally omitted in the Hebrew tradition when a scribe’s eye jumped from the first occurrence of the phrase “man of God” (which appears right before the extra material) and the second occurrence of the phrase (which appears at the end of the extra material).
