[1:3]  1 tn Heb “Is it because there is no God in Israel [that] you are going to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?” The translation seeks to bring out the sarcastic tone of the rhetorical question.

[4:13]  2 tn Heb “he said to him.”

[4:13]  3 tn Heb “you have turned trembling to us with all this trembling.” The exaggerated language is probably idiomatic. The point seems to be that she has taken great pains or gone out of her way to be kind to them. Her concern was a sign of her respect for the prophetic office.

[4:13]  4 tn Heb “Among my people I am living.” This answer suggests that she has security within the context of her family.

[9:6]  5 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Jehu) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[9:6]  6 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the prophet) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[9:18]  7 tn Heb “the rider of the horse.”

[9:18]  8 tn Heb “Is there peace?”

[9:18]  9 tn Heb “What concerning you and concerning peace?” That is, “What concern is that to you?”

[9:36]  10 tn Heb “It is the word of the Lord, which he spoke by the hand of his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, saying.”

[10:29]  12 tn Heb “Except the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused Israel to commit, Jehu did not turn aside from after them – the golden calves which [were in] Bethel and which [were] in Dan.”

[14:6]  13 tn Heb “as it is written in the scroll of the law of Moses which the Lord commanded, saying.”

[14:6]  14 tn Heb “on account of sons.”

[14:6]  15 tn Heb “on account of fathers.”

[14:6]  16 sn This law is recorded in Deut 24:16.

[16:7]  17 tn Heb “son.” Both terms (“servant” and “son”) reflect Ahaz’s subordinate position as Tiglath-pileser’s subject.

[16:7]  18 tn Heb “hand, palm.”

[16:7]  19 tn Heb “who have arisen against.”

[18:31]  20 tn Heb “make with me a blessing and come out to me.”
