4:1 Now a wife of one of the prophets ⁵  appealed ⁶  to Elisha for help, saying, “Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the Lord. ⁷  Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants.”

Elisha Miraculously Feeds a Hundred People

4:42 Now a man from Baal Shalisha brought some food for the prophet ⁸  – twenty loaves of bread made from the firstfruits of the barley harvest, as well as fresh ears of grain. ⁹  Elisha ¹⁰  said, “Set it before the people so they may eat.”

12:4 Jehoash said to the priests, “I place at your disposal ¹¹  all the consecrated silver that has been brought to the Lord’s temple, including the silver collected from the census tax, ¹²  the silver received from those who have made vows, ¹³  and all the silver that people have voluntarily contributed to the Lord’s temple. ¹⁴

18:17 The king of Assyria sent his commanding general, the chief eunuch, and the chief adviser ¹⁵  from Lachish to King Hezekiah in Jerusalem, ¹⁶  along with a large army. They went up and arrived at Jerusalem. They went ¹⁷  and stood at the conduit of the upper pool which is located on the road to the field where they wash and dry cloth. ¹⁸

23:3 The king stood by the pillar and renewed ¹⁹  the covenant before the Lord, agreeing to follow ²⁰  the Lord and to obey his commandments, laws, and rules with all his heart and being, ²¹  by carrying out the terms ²²  of this covenant recorded on this scroll. All the people agreed to keep the covenant. ²³

[1:2]  ⁴ sn Apparently Baal Zebub refers to a local manifestation of the god Baal at the Philistine city of Ekron. The name appears to mean “Lord of the Flies,” but it may be a deliberate scribal corruption of Baal Zebul, “Baal, the Prince,” a title known from the Ugaritic texts.
