7:9 Now I rejoice, not because you were made sad, 1  but because you were made sad to the point of repentance. For you were made sad as God intended, 2  so that you were not harmed 3  in any way by us.

9:2 because I know your eagerness to help. 4  I keep boasting to the Macedonians about this eagerness of yours, 5  that Achaia has been ready to give 6  since last year, and your zeal to participate 7  has stirred up most of them. 8

[7:9]  2 tn Grk “corresponding to God,” that is, corresponding to God’s will (κατὰ θεόν, kata qeon). The same phrase occurs in vv. 10 and 11.

[12:18]  12 tn Grk “[Did we not walk] in the same tracks?” This is an idiom that means to imitate someone else or to behave as they do. Paul’s point is that he and Titus have conducted themselves in the same way toward the Corinthians. If Titus did not take advantage of the Corinthians, then neither did Paul.
