[28:21]  1 tn Heb “divided up,” but some read חִלֵּץ (khillets, “despoiled”).

[28:2]  2 tn Heb “he walked in the ways of.”

[12:18]  3 tn BDAG 436 s.v. ἡμέρα 1.a has “day is breaking” for ἡμέρα γίνεται (Jhmera ginetai) in this verse.

[12:18]  4 tn Grk “no little consternation.” The translation given for τάραχος (taraco") in this verse by BDAG 991 s.v. τάραχος 1 is “mental agitation.” The situation indicated by the Greek word is described in L&N 25.243 as “a state of acute distress and great anxiety, with the additional possible implications of dismay and confusion – ‘great distress, extreme anxiety.’” The English word “consternation” is preferred here because it conveys precisely such a situation of anxiety mixed with fear. The reason for this anxiety is explained in the following verse.

[16:8]  5 tn Although the normal meaning for παρέρχομαι (parercomai) is “pass by, go by,” it would be difficult to get to Troas from where Paul and his companions were without going through rather than around Mysia. BDAG 776 s.v. παρέρχομαι 6 list some nonbiblical examples of the meaning “go through, pass through,” and give that meaning for the usage here.

[16:8]  6 sn Mysia was a province in northwest Asia Minor.

[16:8]  7 sn Troas was a port city (and surrounding region) on the northwest coast of Asia Minor, near ancient Troy.

[18:15]  8 tn Or “dispute.”

[18:15]  9 tn Grk “see to it” (an idiom).

[18:15]  10 tn Or “I am not willing to be.” Gallio would not adjudicate their religious dispute.
