Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
But no human being can subdue the tongue; it is a restless 1 evil, full of deadly poison.
for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer.
He asked, “Why? What wrong has he done?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”
Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”
For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!
So, I find the law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me.
It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful.
Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. For although all things are clean, 1 it is wrong to cause anyone to stumble by what you eat.
See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.
There was a great commotion, 1 and some experts in the law 2 from the party of the Pharisees stood up 3 and protested strongly, 4 “We find nothing wrong 5 with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
