Yesaya 54:5

54:5 For your husband is the one who made you –

the Lord who commands armies is his name.

He is your protector,¹ the Holy One of Israel.²

He is called “God of the entire earth.”

Yeremia 3:20

3:20 But, you have been unfaithful to me, nation of Israel,³

like an unfaithful wife who has left her husband,”⁴

says the Lord.

2:1 Then you will call⁵ your⁶ brother, “My People” (Ammi)! You will call your sister, “Pity” (Ruhamah)!

Idolatrous Israel Will Be Punished Like a Prostitute

2:2 Plead earnestly⁷ with your⁸ mother

(for⁹ she is not my wife, and I am not her husband),

so that¹⁰ she might put an end to her adulterous lifestyle,¹¹

and turn away from her sexually immoral behavior.¹²

2:3 Otherwise, I will strip her naked,

and expose her like she was when she was born.

I will turn her land into a wilderness

and make her country a parched land,

so that I might kill¹³ her with thirst.

2:4 I will have no pity on her children,¹⁴

because they are children conceived in adultery.¹⁵
