Yesaya 30:16

30:16 You say, ‘No, we will flee on horses,’

so you will indeed flee.

You say, ‘We will ride on fast horses,’

so your pursuers will be fast.

Yesaya 31:3

31:3 The Egyptians are mere humans, not God;

their horses are made of flesh, not spirit.

The Lord will strike with¹ his hand;

the one who helps will stumble

and the one being helped will fall.

Together they will perish.²

Yesaya 34:16

34:16 Carefully read the scroll of the Lord!³

Not one of these creatures will be missing,⁴

none will lack a mate.⁵

For the Lord has issued the decree,⁶

and his own spirit gathers them.⁷

36:12 But the chief adviser said, “My master did not send me to speak these words only to your master and to you.⁸ His message is also for the men who sit on the wall, for they will eat their own excrement and drink their own urine along with you!”⁹

55:11 In the same way, the promise that I make

does not return to me, having accomplished nothing.¹⁰

No, it is realized as I desire

Yesaya 57:15

57:15 For this is what the high and exalted one says,

the one who rules¹² forever, whose name is holy:

“I dwell in an exalted and holy place,

but also with the discouraged and humiliated,¹³

in order to cheer up the humiliated

and to encourage the discouraged.¹⁴

Yesaya 58:3

58:3 They lament,¹⁵ ‘Why don’t you notice when we fast?

Why don’t you pay attention when we humble ourselves?’

Look, at the same time you fast, you satisfy your selfish desires,¹⁶

you oppress your workers.¹⁷
